The Center for Heart Health at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital has been granted an additional three-year term of echocardiography accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).
Echocardiography is used to assess different areas of the heart and can detect heart disease or signs of serious conditions.
Accreditation by IAC indicates that Wentworth-Douglass Hospital’s Center for Heart Health has undergone an intensive application and review process. The accreditation was comprised of a detailed self-evaluation, followed by a thorough review by a panel of medical experts.
This IAC indicates that this latest accreditation awarded to Wentworth-Douglass “demonstrates the facility’s ongoing commitment to providing quality patient care.”
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. According to the American Heart Association, more than 2,150 Americans die each day from cardiovascular disease, which amounts to about one every 40 seconds.
The accreditation in echocardiography is in the adult transthoracic, adult transesophageal, and adult stress areas.
