David J. Coppola, MD

Dr. David J. Coppola is Medical Director of Surgical Oncology and Medical Director of General Surgery at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.

He is the hospital’s main breast surgeon and is an integral part of Wentworth-Douglass Hospital’s Breast Health Center’s multi-disciplinary team. He also is the area’s leading thyroid/parathyroid surgeon.

Board-certified in general surgery, Dr. Coppola joined Seacoast General Surgery in 1998. He is trained in robotic-assisted surgery and was the first general surgeon in the state of New Hampshire to perform robotic surgeries.

Dr. Coppola earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Vermont and completed his general surgery training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where he was also twice honored as resident teacher of the year. He received his Bachelor of Science in Molecular Genetics at the University of Rochester. 

He is active with On Belay and is an Adjunct Professor at the University of New England. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. 

Dr. Coppola also enjoys skiing, mountain biking, running, spending time with his wife and two daughters and is an avid cook.
